Barbara A.'s Story
Hi Guys...
My parents moved to Kentucky in 1973 and I stayed in Tucson until late 1974. My Dad had bought a farm and my horses were in Kentucky so I went east. I found out very quickly that the winters here rival Canada's...they just don't last as long. The summers are like being in Mississippi, but its pretty country. I was brought up on a farm and I love the country. My folks decided that the winters were too much and moved back to Arizona in 1976. I stayed in Kentucky, raised a daughter (35 who has 3 daughters and 1 son) and two sons (28, 23); went back to school and earned a BS in Chemistry and worked in the environmental field as an inspector and first responder for the state. My parents moved back to Kentucky in 1983 and bought another farm in Lawrenceburg. I took over the farm in 1993 and took care of them until they passed, Dad in 2001 at age 93 and Mother in 2008 at age 91. I retired from state government 01 September 201...Expand for more
0 and just recently started a new job as a consultant for an environmental company here. Wow...40 years in one paragraph.
I still own the farm and do the usual. Still have my horses, a few chickens 3 dogs and 3 cats, not to mention a bevy of wild critters including coyotes and mink that love the chickens more than I do. I raise a garden every year, hunt and fish. There's nothing better than a cool summer night watching the stars and listening to the night sounds. Contrary to popular belief...we do wear shoes in Kentucky. I have several pairs myself. Believe it or not, someone actually asked me that. If yer ever in my neck of the woods, stop by. Kentucky is a beautiful state. I promise I won't make possum pie or raccoon ragout (ha ha), but I can probably find moonshine if I asked around (no joke). I haven't been back to Tucson since 1978. I can only imagine how much it has changed. Look forward to hearing from any of you...b
